East China's Shandong province is making strides in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector, backed by its pioneering policy framework and robust industrial ecosystem. A conference held on Aug 6 highlighted the achievements of local AI enterprises and the role of policy support in driving Shandong's tech growth.
At a supercomputing center of Gosci Technology Group in Qingdao, the Wenhai large-scale AI model can generate global 15-day ocean forecasts in just 90 seconds, a process that traditionally takes much longer. Meanwhile, Jinan-based Inspur's intelligent manufacturing system is optimizing delivery cycles for customized AI models across various industries, reducing them to 22 percent of the traditional time.
These breakthroughs result from Shandong's forward-thinking policy framework, which aims to integrate AI deeply into the real economy. The provincial government has designated AI as one of the 19 key industry value chains, establishing a cross-departmental coordination mechanism to address regulatory challenges.
The policy framework has delivered remarkable results. Shandong now has 17 large-scale AI models registered with the national authorities, and the revenue growth rate of AI enterprises exceeds 40 percent.
