The RoboMaster 2026 Eastern China Division began on May 21 at the Jinan Olympic Sports Center, gathering nearly 1,500 students from 32 university robotics teams across China for a five-day competition featuring self-developed robots and advanced engineering technologies.
RoboMaster is among the world's leading robotics competitions for young engineers, integrating multiple cutting-edge fields, such as computer vision, embedded systems, mechanical engineering, autonomous navigation, and human-computer interaction. Over the past decade, it has drawn 941 university teams from 18 countries and regions, developing nearly 200,000 engineering talents globally.
This year's Eastern China Division has intense competition, with each robot representing months – and sometimes years – of R&D. During matches, engineers remotely control robots through live video feeds, navigating obstacle-filled arenas and competing in fast-paced tactical battles. Autonomous Sentry robots and drones provide reconnaissance and support.
With rapid tactical shifts and esports-style excitement, the event offers spectators a glimpse into the future of robotics.
