As Qingdao plays host to the prestigious Huabiao Film Awards, the city is seeing a surge in cultural tourism through creative cross-sector initiatives like "Travel with Films." The 5th Qingdao Taiping Mountain Cableway China Aerial Hanfu Show officially opened on April 29, themed Heavenly Colors, Taiping Peonies. Guided by the Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and the Municipal Bureau of Parks and Forestry, the event blended the elegance of Hanfu with the iconic cableway views and the scenic backdrop of A Little Red Flower, a popular Chinese film shot in the area. Dozens of Hanfu enthusiasts and tourists gathered at Taiping Mountain to witness the fusion of traditional culture and cinematic charm.

The Taiping Mountain Cableway, known for its panoramic views of Qingdao's signature red-roofed villas, lush greenery, and the blue expanse of sea and sky, serves as both a cultural bridge and a visual spectacle. It was recently featured in the newly released "Travel with Films" itinerary under the Land of Light and Shadow: A Poetic Journey through Mountains and Seas theme. "Qingdao has been upgrading its tourism model from sightseeing to immersive experiences," said Deputy Researcher at the Market Promotion Division of the Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism Qi Yue. "By integrating Hanfu, the cableway, and natural scenery, the show turns the landscape into a living painting, making traditional culture visible in the environment and vibrant in experience. It has become a trending symbol of China-chic among young audiences."

The event has evolved into China's first Hanfu cultural IP based on a cableway setting. Since its debut in 2021. it has attracted over 100,000 participants. With a growing number of TV dramas and reality shows filmed at the location, the Taiping Mountain Cableway has emerged as a landmark for film and cultural tourism, reinforcing its reputation and cultural appeal nationwide. The area has gained additional exposure through China Media Group's ongoing series Anchors Meet the Movies (主播遇见电影) with scenic footage of the cableway trending across social platforms. "Looking out at the ocean, it truly feels like stepping inside that moving, heartfelt movie and being part of it," said host Zou Yun one time during the show. The Hanfu-in-the-sky experience will return during the upcoming May Day holiday, from May 1 to 3, with performers once again gracing the cableway—offering visitors a poetic springtime journey through mountains and sea.
