On May 19, at the "China Tourism Day" event held in Weifang, the Development and Reform Commission of Shandong province, together with Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, unveiled the province's "Credit + Culture & Tourism" application scenarios. The initiative marks a key step in leveraging the credit system to boost cultural tourism consumption and deepen the "Credit Shandong" framework.

118 counties (cities and districts) have voluntarily joined the program. Cities including Weihai have teamed up with Hangzhou, Zhengzhou, Quzhou and Huangshi to offer cross-regional credit-based travel benefits. Eight counties in Shandong have also achieved coordinated application of such policies with eight counties outside the province, including Yunyang of Chongqing and Dunhuang of Gansu.

A total of 249 local tourism-related businesses have signed up for the first phase, including 88 scenic spots, 51 travel agencies, 50 star-rated hotels, and 60 restaurants and cultural-creative stores. High-credit tourists can enjoy customized perks such as ticket discounts, priority access, spending reductions, hotel deals and free souvenirs.

Shandong plans to improve its personal credit rating display mechanism by the end of May, unify service signage and incentive terms, and enable online-to-offline benefit integration. The province will gradually extend the incentive scheme to transport, shopping and other sectors, covering the full chain. A dynamic evaluation mechanism will be put in place, adhering to voluntary participation and positive incentives. Cross-provincial cooperation is also under exploration.

The initiative is expected to boost summer cultural tourism consumption and provide a "Shandong model" for credit-based application scenarios nationwide.
