子曰：“宁武子，邦有道，则知;邦无道，则愚。其知可及也，其愚不可及也。”

Confucius said: "When the Way prevailed in the state, Ning Wu Zi showed his intelligence. When the Way declined in the state, he played stupid. Some might be able to match his intelligence, but no one can match his stupidity."

子曰く、寧武子、邦道あれば則ち知。邦道なければ則ち愚。その知には及ぶべし。その愚には及ぶべからず。
